Summer Cocktails For The Man Of Style

At the end of a hot summer day, a refreshing cocktail can make all of the difference. Many men default to a cold beer (which is a fine choice). However, a Man Of Style knows that stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to big rewards; such as a new favorite drink. Here are a few summer cocktails to try out on a hot summer day:

Hole In One

“Named for an improbable success, this spartan highball is the second of three Scotch-based cocktails on our summery list. It’s not our go-to summer spirit, and it’s strangely bitter for a dog day drink. But, sometimes, the odds get beaten. Sometimes, one’s number comes up.”

How To Make It:

– Fill your shaker with ice

– Add two parts Scotch, one part Martini Dry, a dash of bitters and the juice of half a lemon.

Strain and serve.

Gin and Juice

According to homewetbar.com, “Snoop Dogg recommended a cocktail made of gin, grapefruit, and orange juice, making a smooth drink where a man can keep his cool while mingling with the ladies. This drink is also tough enough to be one of the only most manly cocktails with a fruity taste that you won’t have to turn in your man card for.”

Try this classic, easy recipe from the New York Times:

  • 2 ounces London Dry-style gin
  • 1-ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ½ ounces ruby grapefruit juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  •  Grapefruit wedge, for garnish

Shake gin, lime juice, grapefruit juice and simple syrup with ice. Pour, with the ice, into a highball glass. Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit.

You don’t have to be at the races to enjoy this refreshing summer cocktail. According to liquor.com, “The Mint Julep is traditionally served in a Highball glass or silver Julep cup over crushed ice and garnished with mint. Since bourbon is the only liquid in the drink, you’ll want to use a high-quality bourbon you know you love.”

In a Julep cup or rocks glass, lightly muddle the mint and syrup.

Add the bourbon and pack tightly with crushed ice.

Stir until the cup is frosted on the outside.

Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome and garnish with a few drops of bitters, if desired, and a mint sprig.
